AAAP Foundation Development Director

The AAAP Foundation Director of Development is charged to secure financial support to further the mission of the AAAP Foundation. This position involves direct fund-raising, planned giving, securing pledges of ongoing support, and related activities. The focus of outreach includes individuals, corporations, and mission-compatible foundations. This effort can be satisfied solely by the Director or in concert with other AAAP members who serve as a development committee, which is chaired by the Director.

Current objectives for the Development Director include but are not limited to:

1. Increasing the existing award and scholarship funds so that all are self-sustaining by 2017.
2. Beginning a planned giving program.
3. Supervising an initiative to make each AAAP Foundation Poultry Scholarship a named scholarship.

The Director has ongoing communication with the AAAP Foundation President, Executive Vice President, and the Executive Director. The Director reports during meetings of the AAAP Foundation Board to document development activities and receive direction.

The position is a voluntary activity by a member of the AAAP and carries no stipend. As with other AAAP and AAAP Foundation activities, the Director is responsible for attending meetings of the Foundation Board at his or her own expense. Development-related expenses for office supplies, postage, and promotional materials are reimbursable with customary documentation. The Director is expected to work closely with the AAAP office for development-related activities and materials.

The AAAP Foundation Director of Development is appointed by the Foundation President with approval by the Foundation Board of Directors. The period of appointment is open and may be terminated by either the President or the Director.
