AAAP Search for Avian Diseases Editor

The American Association of Avian Pathologists invites interested individuals to apply for the position of Editor of the Avian Diseases journal. Deadline to receive letters of interest and CV is November 1, 2012. Please send to [email protected] . Interviews with the AAAP Board of Directors will take place on January 28 or 29, 2013 in Atlanta, GA at the International Poultry Expo (IPE).
The Editor of the journal is responsible for managing the journal content, quality, and integrity of manuscripts accepted and peer reviewed. Responsibilities also include reviewing all manuscripts submitted and assigning reviewers from the Editorial Board or others who specialize in the manuscript subject and who have no conflict of interest with the paper. The Editor is responsible for maintaining an engaged and active Editorial Board and Avian Diseases Advisory Board with the approval of the AAAP Board of Directors. AAAP provides an honorarium for the Avian Diseases Editor who serves members, subscribers and readers of the journal.
Avian Diseases is currently printed and hosted by Allen Press who provides a Managing Editor. Manuscripts are processed through an electronic collection tool called AllenTrack. The AAAP Business office will provide an Office Manager and fulfill the role of Business Manager in support of the Secretary Treasurer. The Spanish Language Coordinator will provide Spanish translations of all accepted manuscript abstracts. The Editor can be expected to work in a collaborative environment with the Managing Editor, Office Manager, Business Manager, and Spanish Language Coordinator, as well as the Avian Diseases Editorial and Advisory Boards in order to maintain the journal production and quality.
The responsibilities of the Editor would commence on February 1, 2013 with complete responsibility for the June 2013 issue (57:2) of Avian Diseases.
Avian Diseases is an international journal dedicated to publishing original basic or clinical research of the highest quality from various disciplines including microbiology, immunology, and pathology. Papers on avian diseases relevant to etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, and control are accepted. The mission is to enhance scientific knowledge and promote avian health.
Avian Diseases has been published as a quarterly journal (with occasional supplements) since 1957.
