Title: Current Infectious Bacterial Diseases of Poultry Avian Diseases is currently seeking papers for the 2024 Special Issue that will focus on six specific bacterial diseases of poultry. The core of the Special Issue will be Invited Reviews, but we are also seeking to supplement the Special Issue with thematically coordinated Original Research articles as well as Case Reports on these topics. |

This is a call for Titles and Abstracts for the North Central Avian Disease Conference (NCADC). We are excited to announce that it will be held in person. This year’s NCADC will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 16 – 17, 2024 at the Minneapolis Convention Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota, in conjunction with the PEAK 2024 Convention.
Submissions
The Animal Welfare and Management Committee (AWMC) would like to invite members of AAAP to attend their committee meeting in the Georgia World Congress Center on Tuesday January 30th from 7 - 9am EST.
Here, meeting attendees will be discussing the impacts on avian influenza prevention. This meeting is open to all members who have an interest in the topics being discussed, regardless of whether or not they members of the AMWC committee. Please see the agenda below for more information:

Criteria and Award Applications
The AAAP Foundation is accepting applications for the following student awards: the Richard B. Rimler Memorial Paper Award, the Reed Rumsey Award, the L. Dwight Schwartz Travel Scholarship, and the Avian Biosciences Travel Scholarship. These awards help defray travel expenses to attend the 2024 AAAP Annual Meeting. Full details on award criteria and submission process can be found on the AAAP website.
Dear AAAP members,
The AAAP’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee is conducting an anonymous demographics and climate survey to evaluate the diversity climate of the AAAP.
The survey consists of 20 questions and will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Participation in this survey will help the AAAP leadership and the Diversity and Inclusion Committee in developing strategies that promote inclusivity and equity and benefit the entire AAAP membership.
The AAAP is calling for abstracts to be presented at the 2023 AAAP Annual Meeting in St. Louis, MI on July 9-11. The deadline to submit an abstract is February 1st, 2024. You will be notified of your submission status on March 17th, 2024. If you have any questions please contact the AAAP business office at [email protected] or 904-425-5735.
We need your help in ensuring that AAAP continues to be recognized as an allied veterinary association of the AVMA.
The AAAP's status as a constituent member of the American Veterinary Medical Association is dependent on AAAP demonstrating that we have a achieved the required threshold of members who are also AVMA members. Thus, it is vital that members get involved so AAAP can achieve the required number to maintain our constituent member status with AVMA.
A great way to get more involved in AAAP activities, is to join a committee! AAAP members can join or leave committees using the forms found under the "Committees" tab on the website, or by clicking one of the buttons below.

On May 31st, the USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service put on a webinar entitled "Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Epidemiology Update".
The Awards Committee is looking for two new members who are interested in recognizing the achievements of AAAP members and poultry professionals. We maintain an equal balance of industry, academia and research/government and are currently in need of one new member from academia and one from industry.
On July 14, 2023, Dr. Willie M. Reed, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Purdue University, was named the inaugural recipient of the American Veterinary Medical Association’s Frederick Douglass Patterson Lifetime Achievement Award for his distinguished leadership in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the veterinary profession. Congratulations to Dr. Reed on this well-deserved honor!
This year the AAAP Board of Directors will meet to assess and update the strategy plan of our organization, so it remains relevant in our ever-changing environment.
We are pleased to announce the results of this year’s American Association of Avian Pathologist Foundation President-Elect election.
